The Editors of Brief Encounters warmly invite research students and staff at CHASE-affiliated institutions to enter the cover art competition for Issue 7. 

The deadline to submit artwork for consideration is Sunday, 30 April 2023. 

The cover art competition is open to multiple genres including painting, printmaking, mixed media, photography, and digital media. 

Any artwork submitted should align with the theme of the issue – the adversarial nature of ‘encounters’ and the ways in which such conflicts or debates might be reframed as a productive form of knowledge exchange. It is recommended that artists read the full Call for Papers before submitting their work. 

To enter, please send your artwork to aivor001@gold.ac.uk before the deadline. 

Terms and Conditions

• All artwork entered must be the original work of those submitting it.
• There is no limit to entries per person.
• Artists retain all rights to their work.
• Works entered must not have appeared on the cover of another publication and not entered simultaneously in any other competition.
• Artwork will be accepted in JPG, PNG or PDF form.
• The winning entry will be selected by the Editorial Board after the competition has closed.
